| 释义 | 違法承諾 A promise which is illegal, (ie prohibited by legislation or a civil wrong under the common law) or is contrary to public policy (Royal Boskalis Westminster NV & Ors v Mountain & Ors [1997] 2 All ER 929 (CA)) and cannot amount to consideration because it is not ‘something of value in the eyes of the law’ (Thomas v Thomas (1842) 2 QB 851).
