| 释义 | 統計 The official counting of people of a country. It contains information classified into different categories, such as sex, age, family, social and economic conditions, and public record. The Census and Statistics Ordinance (Cap 316) aims at providing for the taking of a census of population and the collection, compilation and publication of statistical information concerning Hong Kong and for matters connected therewith. The Chief Executive in Council may, by order in the Gazette, direct that a census of population be taken for Hong Kong or any part thereof: Census and Statistics Ordinance (Cap 316) s 9. It is an offence for any person, in possession of information required to be given for the completion of any form or document issued by the Commissioner for Census and Statistics for collecting statistical information, not to answer any question put to him by a census officer which is necessary for the completion of the said form or document: s 14. It is an offence for a person employed by the Commissioner for Census and Statistics to obtain or seek to obtain any information which is not authorised to obtain: s 19.
