释义	特許公司 A company incorporated by royal charter which, in the past, was often created to secure self-government or local jurisdiction abroad, and to avoid breaching certain statutes as a result of its trading activity. For example, a chartered company was exempt from the offence of unlawful assembly. Chartered companies were also used to create monopolies. The term ‘chartered company’ is now used generally for professional or non-profit institutions. Also known as ‘regulated company’.
