| 释义 | 檢控官／主控官／檢控人 Any person who lays an information or a complaint or institutes criminal proceedings, and in the case of an appeal by a defendant against conviction or any other finding or verdict made in respect of him or sentence, the respondent in any such appeal: Costs in Criminal Cases Ordinance (Cap 492) s 2. A person who prosecutes another may be liable as prosecutor. Any public officer or class of public officers appointed by the Secretary for Justice to conduct generally on behalf of the Secretary of Justice any prosecution before a magistrate or any specified classes of prosecutions or any particular case is public prosecutor: Magistrates Ordinance (Cap 227) s 13. The prosecutor may also be a private person, that is, a complainant or informant who is not acting or deemed to act on behalf of the Secretary for Justice: s 16(2).
