| 释义 | 一項控罪 The distinct and separate offences indicated by separate paragraphs on an indictment. An indictment may contain more than one court, but each count can only contain one offence only. Each count should contain two parts: a statement of the specific offence and such particulars that are necessary for giving reasonable information as to the nature of the charge: Indictment Rules (Cap 221C) rr 3, 4. Alternative counts may be pleaded in the indictment so that the jury may consider the alternative counts if not satisfied that the accused is guilty of the principal count: r 5. Such counts must be drafted separately and clearly as alternative offences in separate paragraphs on the indictment.
