| 释义 | 遣返／送返／遣送回國 The personal right of a civilian or prisoner of war to return to his or her country of nationality under certain conditions. The principle of repatriation obliges the detaining state to release eligible persons, and the country of nationality to accept its own nationals: for example Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War 1949 arts 118, 119. Repatriation of a person may be voluntary or compulsory. The Statute of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees 1952 art 8(c) recommends resettlement and assimilation of those unable or unwilling to repatriate.
