| 释义 | 二百芵里區域 The maximum permissible limit of the width of the exclusive economic zone (EEZ), from the baselines of a coastal state: United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 art 57; Continental Shelf case (Libyan Arab Jamahiriya/Malta) 1985 ICJ 13. The two hundred mile zone in the form of the exclusive economic zone was declared by the People’s Republic of China in 1998: Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Exclusive Economic Zone and the Continental Shelf art 2 (listed under the Basic Law annex III). Within this zone, the coastal state is given ‘sovereign rights’ for the purpose of exploring and exploiting the living and non-living resources of the sea: United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 art 56.
