释义 | 原居村民 A person who was, prior to 30 June 1898, a resident of an established village in Hong Kong or who is descended through the male line from that person: Government Rent (Assessment and Collection) Ordinance (Cap 515) s 2; S-J & Ors v Chan Wah & Ors [2000] 4 HKC 428 (CFA). An indigenous villager of the New Territories is entitled to the following exclusive rights: the right of male descendants to build small houses under the Small House Policy; the rate exemption policy for village houses; ex-gratia compensation upon resumption; special funeral and burial rights; the symbolic rental of village building lots; and the official status of the Heung Yee Kuk as a consultative body.
