释义	商人銀行 A financial institution active mainly in the wholesale money market. Merchant banks do not provide normal banking services to the general public. A merchant bank also trades in government and public authority securities and other corporate debt instruments. It provides financial advice and services such as underwriting and placement for semi-government securities, arranging local and foreign currency loans, and participating in the foreign currency hedge market and futures market. Merchant banks equate approximately to the investment banks in the United States. Also known as ‘private banks’.
