| 释义 | 大學 A higher education institution established by statute as a body corporate with a seal, of which judicial notice may be taken, and which may acquire, hold and dispose of real and personal property: for example, The University of Hong Kong, incorporated under the University of Hong Kong Ordinance (Cap 1053). The functions of a university include transmitting knowledge through teaching and research, providing facilities for higher education, and the awarding and conferring of degrees and diplomas. The founding statute provides the powers of the university and for its organisation, the constitution of its governing body, and the appointment of its senior executive officers: for example The University of Hong Kong Ordinance (Cap 1053) ss 4-12. The founding statute also provides for the power of the governing body to make by-laws for the administration of the university: s 13.
