| 释义 | 平均 1. A standard or level which is regarded as ordinary or the norm. 2. A proportional mean, medial sum or quantity derived from taking the average or aggregate of a number of unequal terms or quantities. 3. In maritime law, loss or damage incurred by a vessel or its cargo during its voyage. A general average occurs when a contribution to the loss is made by several interests that may be involved in the marine venture in which such loss will be made good, including extraordinary expenses not covered by the insurance but which will be similarly covered for the common benefit of all. This is in direct contrast to a particular average in which the loss to the ship or its freight or cargo is not borne on a contributory basis but is the responsibility of the owner of the subject to which the loss has occurred: Marine Insurance Ordinance (Cap 329) ss 64, 66.
