释义	法定語文 The languages used for the purposes of communication between the Government or any public officer and members of the public and for court proceedings. The English and Chinese languages are declared to be the official languages of Hong Kong. Any reference to an ‘official language’ shall be construed as a reference to the English language or the Chinese language as the case may be: Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance (Cap 1) s 3. The official languages possess equal status and enjoy equality of use: Official Languages Ordinance (Cap 5) s 3. All Ordinances shall be enacted and published in both official languages: s 4(1). A judge, magistrate or other judicial officer may use either or both of the official languages in any proceedings or a part of any proceedings before him as he thinks fit: s 5. 在政府或公職人員與公眾人士之間的事務往來上，以及在法院程序上。已宣布中文和英文為香港的法定語文。凡提述一種「法定語文」時，須視乎情況而解釋為中文或英文：《釋義及通則條例》(第1章) 第3條。各法定語文享有同等地位，亦享有同等待遇：《法定語文條例》(第5章) 第 3條。所有條例均須以兩種法定語文制定及頒布：第4(1)條。法官、裁判官或其他司法人員可在於他席前進行的程序中或於他席前進行的程序的任何部分中兼用兩種法定語文或採用其中一種，視乎他認為何者適當而定：第5條。
