| 释义 | 劫機 A person on board an aircraft in flight who unlawfully, by the use of force or by threats of any kind, seizes the aircraft or exercises control of it: Aviation Security Ordinance (Cap 494) s 8(1). Hijacking is subject to international control under the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Seizure of Aircraft 1970 and the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Civil Aviation 1971. The Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Seizure of Aircraft 1970 provides for each state to make hijacking a serious offence, and sets out rules regarding jurisdiction: art 4. Hijacking is an offence punishable by severe penalties and a state is obliged to take into custody any offender found within its jurisdiction: art 6. In Hong Kong, hijacking is an indictable offence punishable by life imprisonment: Aviation Security Ordinance (Cap 494) s 8(3).
