| 释义 | 先於去世 To die before some other person or event. If an intended beneficiary of a will predeceases the testator, the gift in the will may fail according to the doctrine of lapse: Re Ladd [1932] 2 Ch 219; Sibley v Cook (1747) 3 Atk 572, 26 ER 130. Similarly, the entitlement under the intestacy of a deceased would not arise if a person, otherwise entitled to a share of the estate under the Intestates’ Estates Ordinance (Cap 73) s 4 has predeceased the intestate.
