单词 Contingent condition
In contract law, an event which may or may not occur and that neither party undertakes to bring about, but on whose occurrence depends the creation or subsistence of a contract. A contingent condition is precedent if it provides that the contract is not to be binding until the specified event occurs: Port Jackson Stevedoring Pty Ltd v Salmond & Spraggon (Aust) Pty Ltd (1978) 139 CLR 231. A condition is subsequent if it provides that a previously binding contract is to determine on the occurrence of an event. See also Conditional contract.
