Generally, to communicate or convey, or cause the communication or conveyance, of conceptual material to one or more persons by one or more means including: inserting it into a newspaper, journal, magazine, or other periodic publications; sending it to any person by post or by any other means of delivering letters; delivering it to any person or leaving it on any premises; broadcasting it by radio or television; exhibiting it by means of posters, film or videotape; or brining it to the notice of the public by any other means. 2. In defamation law, to communicate or convey or to cause the communication or conveyance of material to a third party: Pullman v Walter Hill & Co Ltd [1891] 1 QB 524. Publication does not necessarily mean publication in a book, newspaper or periodical, it includes publication in written or oral form or even by gesticulation, mimicry or signs: Target Newspapers Ltd v Narain [1989] 2 HKC 16 (CA).
