| 释义 | 主權國 An entity which has acquired the attributes of statehood under the Montevideo Convention on the Rights and Duties of States 1933, namely a defined territory, a permanent population, an effective government, and the ability to enter into international relations: Montevideo Convention on the Rights and Duties of States 1933 art 1. The Convention is regarded as declaratory of customary international law. A nation state enjoys sovereign equality in international law: Charter of the United Nations 1945 art 2 para 1. A state entity is sovereign in the sense that its nationals are not subject to any other state, and no foreign state or law can exert any influence or interference (except by consent) on anything within the territory of that state. A sovereign state is the principal subject of, and an objective person in, international law: Reparation for Injuries Suffered in the Service of the United Nations case 1949 ICJ 174. Also known as ‘nation state’.
