| 释义 | 進口商、進口人 A person or entity that brings a product manufactured in a foreign country into the country in which it is to be marketed or used. An importer can be a defendant to a product liability claim in negligence: Goodchild v Vaclight Ltd (The Times, 22 May 1965). An importer of certain goods may commit an offence. For example, an importer of consumer goods commits an offence if the goods do not comply with the general safety requirement for consumer goods or with the approved standard which applies to the goods: Consumer Goods Safety Ordinance (Cap 456) s 22. An importer of unmanifested cargo also commits an offence: Import and Export Ordinance (Cap 60) s 18.
