释义 | 當押 A form of consumer credit in which a pawnbroker takes possession of an article as security for the repayment of money owed to the pawnbroker: Coggs v Bernard (1703) 2 Ld Raym 909, 92 ER 107. If the money is not repaid within a specified time, the pawnbroker has the right to sell the goods: The Odessa [1916] 1 AC 145. Legislation regulates pawnbroking activities through a licensing system and prescribes formalities for loan transactions: Pawnbrokers Ordinance (Cap 166) ss 4, 11, 12.
