| 释义 | 低潮標 The lowest line to which a body of water recedes. With respect to the sea, it is the height of the lowest ebb tide. When Hong Kong was a colony of the British Crown, the low water mark was considered to be the furthest territorial extent of colonial legislative power, until the principles of extra-territoriality were developed: McLeod v A-G of New South Wales [1891] AC 455 (PC). The low-water mark is the baseline for establishment of the territorial sea, the contiguous zone, the exclusive economic zone, and the continental shelf: United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 arts 3-5, 33, 57, 76. The People’s Republic of China implements the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 by enacting and promulgating the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Territorial Sea and the Contiguous Zone and the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Exclusive Economic Zone and the Continental Shelf.
