释义	一整筆款項 The aggregate of several amounts separately payable, or a total arrived at by adding amounts for different heads of damage. It may consist of a single payment which discharges liability for future payments (such as a payment to a member of a superannuation fund, or from an insurance company following a claim, or from an employer as a redundancy payment or a payment received as a result of a court settlement). In the context of compensation, once a lump sum is paid, the amount of damages will not be reassessed by the court in the light of actual loss incurred, although if the wrong continues (such as trespass or nuisance) a new action may be brought.
