Monopoly |
In absolute form, a market situation in which a single seller of goods or services deals with a large number of buyers, the seller having complete control over the quantities of goods offered for sale and the price at which the goods are sold. The strength of a monopoly depends upon the paucity of substitutes for the product or service and the ease with which a competitor could enter the market. Monopoly influence may be found where ownership is much less than 100%. See also Competition; Market; Natural monopoly; Restraint of trade; Supply. 另見Competition; Market; Natural monopoly; Restraint of trade; Supply。n. |
