| 释义 | 慈善目的 An object of a society, trust or corporate body, which exclusively promotes charity within the legal meaning of the term ‘charity’. They are generally divided into four categories: the relief of poverty; the advancement of religion; the advancement of education; and any other purposes beneficial to the community: Income Tax Special Purposes Cmrs v Pemsel [1981] AC 531, 61 LJ QB, 65 LT 621. The last category may include recreational facilities for public benefit and social welfare, protection of human life and public property, social rehabilitation, protection of animals, promotion of industry and commerce for public benefit, research into and dissemination of information useful to the community, preservation of the environment, protection of health: Registered Trustees Incorporation Ordinance (Cap 306) s 2. A charitable trust must fall within one of these categories in order to be valid.
