单词 Commodity swap
A large transaction, generally restricted to institutional traders, involving agreements of a specified time in which a bank typically acts as the go-between. Swaps occur on a widening range of commodities including oil, oil products including jet fuel, gold and base metals such as copper, zinc and aluminium. The simplest commodity swaps allow suppliers to fix their prices and hence incomes, while end-users are able to fix the price of their supply and hence total costs over the period of the agreement. A swap is essentially a private arrangement with no commodity market involvement. See also Commodity.
