待遇 1. Action or behaviour toward a person or thing. For example, in relation to a person, it means education, training and behaviour management (Mental Health Ordinance (Cap 136) s 44C); in relation to a thing, such as waste, it means removing (wholly or in part) pollutants from the waste (Waste Disposal Ordinance (Cap 354) s 2(1)). 2. A method of effecting a cure of an injury or disease. It includes medical treatment, dental treatment or both, and proposed treatment but does not include special treatment: Mental Health Ordinance (Cap 136) s 59ZA. It also includes such diagnosis and prescription as is necessary for the purpose of giving treatment: Medical Registration Ordinance (Cap 161) s 28(5). See also Medical treatment.
Intellectual property - In relation to a work, any addition to, deletion from or alteration to or adaptation of the work, other than a translation of a literary or dramatic work; or an arrangement or transcription of a musical work involving no more than a change of key or register: Copyright Ordinance (Cap 528) s 92(2)(a). The treatment of a work is derogatory if it amounts to distortion or mutilation of the work or is otherwise prejudicial to the honour or reputation of the author or director: s 92(2)(b). The author of a copyright literary, dramatic, musical or artistic work, and the director of a copyright film, has the right not to have his work subjected to derogatory treatment: s 92(1).
Tort - A method of effecting a cure of an injury or disease. Treatment takes place when a patient is looked after and attended to by persons professionally trained to look after and attend to the sick: Minister of Health v General Committee of the Royal Midland Counties Home for Incurables at Leamington Spa [1954] 1 All ER 1013, [1954] CH 530 (CA). It includes medical or dental treatment: Mental Health Ordinance (Cap 136). Medical treatment includes medical or surgical procedure, operation or examination carried out by, or under the supervision of, a registered medical practitioner or any care associated therewith. Dental treatment includes dental procedure, operation or examination carried out by, or under the supervision of, a registered dentist and any care associated therewith.
