| 释义 | 檢舉／彈劾 The act of challenging the credibility or integrity of another. The act of charging or accusation. In relation to constitutional law, it refers to the procedure by which the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR could be formally impeached by the Legislative Council. A motion may be initiated by one-fourth of all the members of the Legislative Council to charge the Chief Executive with serious breach of law or dereliction of duty: Basic Law art 73(9). If the Chief Executive refuses to resign, the Council may, after passing a motion for investigation, give a mandate to the Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal to form and chair an independent investigation committee to carry out the investigation and report to its findings to the Council.
