释义	暴力 Unjust, unwarranted, or unlawful use of force. Criminal law - Any force towards a person with intent in any such case to cause such person or any other person to do any act which he is not legally bound to do, or to omit to do any act which he is legally entitled to do (Crimes Ordinance (Cap 200) s 25); or with intent to murder or wound such person, or do unlawfully any act by which the life of such person may be endangered (s 19). It is an offence for any person who enters on any premises in a violent manner, whether or not he is entitled to enter thereon and whether such violence consists in actual force applied to any other person or in threats or in breaking open any building or in collecting an unusual number of people: Public Order Ordinance (Cap 245) s 23(1). See also Act of violence; Domestic violence. Tort - Violent conduct towards property or persons, including physical force that causes or is intended to cause injury or damage to a person or property. It is a component of the tort of assault and battery: Cole v Turner (1704) 6 Mod 149. Threatening to use violence where a victim believes that the perpetrator will do so also constitutes assault: Wong Kwai Fun v Li Fung [1994] 1 HKC 549. Violence is an offence if it causes or is intended to cause injury, damage, or death to the person or property of another. Domestic and any other violence against the person, including intimidation, can constitute battery or assault in tort law.
