| 释义 | 醫療保密權 A privilege protecting the confidentiality of communications between doctors and their patients. Such communications are not given a general or specific common law privilege: R v Nowell [1948] 1 All ER 794; Hunter v Mann [1974] QB 767, 59 Cr App R 37. A doctor is ethically bound to keep communication that passes between him and his patient confidential. Such confidentiality may be a term of contract between them. A doctor may not voluntarily disclose the content of a confidential communication between him and the patent, but he may be compelled to do so by the court: Hunter v Mann, supra.
