Contumely is a variant of, or confused with, contumacy, and is an insolent reproach or abuse of lawful authority; insulting or contemptuous language or treatment. In arbitration proceedings, the court may terminate them where a claim under the arbitration agreement has been delayed as the result of delay which has been intentional and contumelious.
