| 释义 | 佐證 Independent evidence which implicates the accused person by connecting him or her with the crime: R v Baskerville [1916] 2 KB 658, [1916-17] All ER Rep 38 (CCA). Evidence tending to confirm, support, or strenghten other evidence: DPP v Kilbourne [1973] AC 729; R v Chan Kam Sam [1985] 1 HKC 396 (CA). It is not enough that the evidence confirms in some material particular that the offence was committed, if it does not also point to the accused as the person who committed it: R v Cheung Shu Wai [1994] 2 HKC 174. Corroboration need not consist of direct evidence that the accused committed the offence, nor need it amount to a confirmation of the whole account given by the witness: R v Mullins (1848) 3 Cox CC 526; R v Chan Chun Man [1986] HKC 261 (CA); R v Ho Ling Hung (CACC 563/82, unreported).
