释义 合理之理由
A justification for conduct which is otherwise illegal where that justification is considered appropriate by a tribunal of fact given all the circumstances in which the conduct occurred. ‘Having reasonable cause’ is synonymous with to ‘reasonably believe’, which requires not only that the person in question has reason to believe but also that he does actually believe: Nakkuda Ali v MF de S Jayaratne [1951] AC 66. For example, an accused may put forth the defence of self defence if he is being attacked provided reasonable force is used: Delvin v Armstrong [1971] NI 13. See also Intention; Reasonable excuse.
