| 释义 | 新界 A geographical description which refers to all parts of Hong Kong except the land and sea comprised within the boundary of Hong Kong immediately before 9 June 1898: Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance (Cap 1) s 3, sch 5A. The area north of Boundary Street on the Kowloon Peninsula to the Shum Chun River, together with 235 islands. In 1898, the territory of Hong Kong was extended to include the New Territories, which was leased to Britain for 99 years: Convention of Beijing 1898.
