Other civil servants whose conduct is not governed by any Ordinance are subject to the Public Service (Discipline) Regulation (made under s 21 of the Public Service (Administration) Order 1997 (Executive Order No 1 of 1997)) whose reg 18(1) provides that an officer may be liable to summary dismissal for absence from duty without reasonable excuse to the effect that he has effectively vacated his post without permission either permanently or temporarily.
