| 释义 | 共和政體主義思想 In political theory, advocacy of common citizenship, political equality and participation, and political deliberation informed by a monolithic notion of civic virtue. Republican thought assumes the existence of an ascertainable common good, which is supposed to guide the deliberations of political actors. Citizenship is mandated in order to instil in individuals civic virtue and feelings of community, and the political system is subject to regulation limiting inequalities of access to the political process. Republican thought implies a social contract binding all citizens. It contrasts with individual right, and is criticised by pluralists as a threat to free speech and cultural diversity.
