| 单词 | Multiplier |
| 释义 | 乘數 In economics, a ratio indicating the effect on total employment or income of a specified amount of capital investment or expenditure. Investment or expenditure represents income for the factors of production. After tax is deducted some of that income will be saved and the rest spent. This expenditure will in turn become the income of others along an almost endless chain. If the factors were previously unemployed the benefits are considerable. Through the multiplier, employing one additional person may create the equivalent of work for another. The multiplier is a crucial concept in Keynesian economics. See also Capital; Investment. Tort - The quantity by which a number (multiplicand) is multiplied: Willett v North Bedfordshire Health Authority [1993] PIQR Q166. The multiplier is to be assessed as at the date of trial: Ho Chi Kin v Chan Hoi Shing [1987] 1 HKC 143.
