释义 | 扣押財物 A remedy for the right of a person (distrainor) to seize or detain the chattels of another person in order to force the latter to perform his obligation. For example, as incident to his reversion, a landlord can apply to the District Court for a warrant to levy a distress for arrears of rent upon all goods found upon the premises: Halsbury’s Laws of Hong Kong, Vol 17, Landlord and Tenant [235.226]. It is a complete defence to an intentional tort, such as trespass to land or goods.
