Double bond |
A bond that consists of two parts: condition and obligation. The condition specifies the money to be paid or duties to be observed, the payment or observance of which is secured by the bond. The obligation is the formal acknowledgement of the payment of a penalty, and does not, in terms, refer to the condition. On breach of the condition the bond is said to become forfeited or absolute. Upon due performance of the condition the bond shall be void. Also known as ‘conditional bond’. See also Single bond. |
