| 释义 | 嫁妝 presented to a husband, generally by the bride’s family, at the time of their marriage. Upon the demise of a marriage, entitlement to such gifts will depend to some extent on whether the donor intended the gift to be made to one party to the exclusion of the other: Read v Read [1984] FLC 91-527. In the instance of a dowry the court may consider whether the bride’s family intended the gift to be for the groom to the exclusion of the bride.
